How we started

Hookway’s originally started life as a self-serve salad bar. We had a huge choice of fresh salads every day for people to fill their boxes. After a slow start, lunchtimes were busy with office workers queueing out the door.

The salads evolved and Middle Eastern influences became a bigger and bigger part. Despite being busy as lunchtimes; the salads were not very popular in the evenings or weekends. We introduced our kebabs as an alternative option and these became just as popular.

The covid pandemic hit and the city centre became a ghost town. The salad bar became redundant, but fortunately for us the kebabs became popular online. With no end to the pandemic in sight and with home working becoming a popular option for many we decided to loose the salad bar completely and redesigned our kitchen and space to focus on the kebabs.

This went from strength to strength and when people started coming back to the offices we kept getting asked about the salads, which is where the catering started.
